IV Ketamine
What is IV Ketamine?
IV Ketamine is a medication that has been used for decades as an anesthetic and pain reliever. In recent years, studies have found it to be significantly effective in the treatment of numerous medical conditions. Clinically, our providers at the AIM Clinic have found IV Ketamine to be the strongest and most profound mind/body therapy we offer.
Conditions IV Ketamine May Treat Include:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder)
- OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder)
- TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury)
- Chronic Pain
- Migraines
- Addiction
What To Expect:
- 45-60 minute IV infusion
- Continuous 1:1 monitoring by an experienced Nurse Practitioner in a private room
- Treatment is typically administered in a series of infusions over a period of several weeks. The number of infusions needed will vary depending on the individual patient.
- Patients generally describe a “Zen-like” or even “transcendent” experience. Feelings experienced may include connectivity, empathy, joy, and mental clarity
- IV Ketamine treatment is generally well-tolerated. The most common side effects are nausea and dizziness. These are usually mild and resolve on their own. Medication may be given if needed to reduce side effects.
- You will need to arrange for a ride home after the infusion.
How IV Ketamine Works:
- Induces a deep meditative experience and “neurologic reset” that allows for profound self reflection.
- Enhances and balances neurotransmitters in the brain that regulate mood, fear, pain, memory formation, and learning.
- Increases the creation of new neurons and BDNF (Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor) in the brain.
- Regrows and strengthens connections between neurons in the brain.
