PRP & A2M Injections

PRP & A2M Injections

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) and Alpha-2-Macroglobulin (A2M) injections are innovative, regenerative treatment options for chronic pain, injuries, arthritis, and inflammation.

We create customized care plans using PRP and A2M from your own blood to treat a range of conditions, including tendonitis, arthritis, and rotator cuff tears, with little or no downtime so you can quickly get back to your usual routine.

What are PRP & A2M Injections?

PRP and A2M injections are regenerative therapies that repair and heal damaged soft tissues and cartilage.

Both therapies use substances that your body makes naturally. PRP contains essential growth factors that stimulate the healing of damaged tissues at a cellular level. A2M is a plasma protease inhibitor that destroys proteins in the body that contribute to arthritis and inflammation.

We offer PRP and A2M injections to treat inflammation and pain that stem from a range of injuries and diseases.

Our medical team customizes a care plan that may combine PRP and A2M injections for maximum pain relief and healing. We also offer treatments like shockwave therapy and HBOT to further enhance the benefits of your injections.

Therapies That Combine Well with PRP & A2M

Focused shockwave is our strongest pre-treatment for PRP and A2M injections.  Creating the ideal healing environment for the PRP and A2M to heal damaged tissue, focused shockwave sends acoustic waves up to 4 inches into the tissue to break up adhesions and stimulate healing.

HBOT and red light therapy are great post-treatment options to enhance the overall healing effects of PRP & A2M injections. These therapies deliver oxygen and circulation into the injection site while also promoting systemic healing.

Who are PRP & A2M Injections Best For?

Because PRP and A2M injections use substances from your own blood, the treatments are typically safe and effective for adults and adolescents who have chronic pain or other symptoms of:

  • Arthritis
  • Tendonitis
  • Joint sprains
  • Ligament strains
  • Rotator cuff tears
  • Low back pain
  • Knee pain
  • Hip pain
  • Shoulder pain
  • Neck pain
  • Wrist pain
  • Ankle pain
  • Sciatica
  • Trigger points

We complete a physical exam of your muscles and joints and review your medical history to determine if you’re a candidate for treatment.

The PRP & A2M Systems We Offer

We use PRP and A2M kits from EmCyte which is a top regenerative injection innovator in the United States.

EmCyte’s PurePRP® is uniquely classified as supraphysiologic PRP. It optimizes the double spin technique, capturing essential requirements needed to exceed clinical requisites for deliverable platelets. The system yields a powerful treatment sample with more than 1 billion platelets per milliliter in a plasma bath. For patients, needing extremely concentrated treatment, we can concentrate over 24 billion platelets in 1 milliliter.

EmCyte’s A2M plasma concentrate produces uniquely high levels of A2M. For instance, a recent study found EmCyte delivered A2M amounts of 7481 μg/mL while a leading competitor had just 4291 μg/mL in a 5.6 mL sample.

What are the Different PRP & A2M Injection Options?

The amount of injections that can be done depends on which EmCyte kit we use for PRP and/or A2M extraction. Below are the options we offer:

  • PRP 30cc kit (1-2 injections)
  • PRP 60cc kit (2-4 injections)
  • PRP 120cc kit (4-8 injections)
  • A2M kit (4-8 injections)
  • PRP 120cc & A2M kit (4-8 injections)

How Many Rounds of Treatments Do I Need for PRP & A2M Injections?

Most patients only need 2-4 rounds of PRP and A2M regenerative injections to reach their desired goals. PRP & A2M injections help the treatment area heal over time so wait a month to determine your new baseline after each treatment. The amount of treatments needed depends on the severity of the damage and the individual’s overall health. PRP & A2M injections can be repeated monthly until your symptoms resolve.

What are the Benefits of Combining PRP & A2M together vs PRP injections alone?

Combining A2M with PRP offers a synergistic approach to joint healing and pain relief, exceeding the benefits of PRP alone. PRP is renowned for its growth factors that stimulate tissue repair, but it doesn't address the inflammatory enzymes that contribute to joint degeneration. This is where A2M shines. By acting as a potent protease inhibitor, A2M neutralizes these harmful enzymes, effectively halting the breakdown of cartilage and other joint tissues.  When combined, PRP and A2M create a powerful one-two punch: PRP focuses on rebuilding and regenerating damaged tissue, while A2M protects the new tissue from further damage, promoting a more sustainable healing process. This dual action can lead to faster pain relief, improved joint function, and a longer-lasting reduction in inflammation compared to PRP alone. Essentially, the combination optimizes the body's natural healing abilities, offering a promising solution for individuals suffering from osteoarthritis and other musculoskeletal conditions.

PRP for Hair Growth

Our PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) Hair Restoration therapy, combined with SkinPen microneedling, harnesses your natural healing potential to stimulate hair growth and combat hair loss. This minimally invasive procedure involves drawing a small amount of your blood, isolating the platelet-rich plasma, and applying it to your scalp through precise microneedling with the SkinPen device. The growth factors in PRP and the micro-channels created by microneedling work together to nourish hair follicles, improve blood circulation, and trigger the body's regenerative response. This results in thicker, fuller hair and a healthier scalp.

What to Expect During an Appointment for PRP & A2M Injections

The PRP and A2M regenerative therapies available involve a two-step process. First, our team draws a blood sample to obtain the PRP and/or A2M they use in your injections. They prepare the blood in a centrifuge device to separate the plasma from other blood components and then use sterile closed-system kits to concentrate platelets and A2M.

In the second part of your treatment, our team injects precise amounts of the PRP and/or A2M into your soft tissues or joints.

You can expect to go back to your usual routine right away. Mild swelling and bruising at the injection sites may occur, but this typically resolve within a few days.

Pain and other symptoms typically lessen within 4 weeks after your injections. Depending on the condition you’re treating, the team may recommend additional injections to maximize symptom relief and the full healing of your tissues.
